"A Brother's Assistant"...the Laurence Dermott Story
by Paul Gardner

Aims & Objectives
The Association of Atholl Lodges exists to provide a focus for the common interests of those surviving Lodges which were warranted by the Grand Lodge of England according to the Old Institutions (the Atholl Grand Lodge 1751-1813).
The aim of the Association is to preserve the Atholl heritage by fostering and promoting fraternal links between all Atholl Lodges across the UK and around the world, and with other interested parties.
Our Course of Action
- By maintaining a definitive list of surviving Atholl Lodges
- By encouraging inter-visits by members of the Association
- By maintaining closer and proper links with the Grand Lodge of England and other bodies
- By arranging periodic events and visits to promote Atholl interest
- By developing regional hubs for local interest
- By making available resources via all media for the purposes of developing Atholl interest
Please assist us by becoming a subscribing Lodge or member, and by encouraging all those Lodges and Brethren with Atholl interests to participate.

New Website As you have no doubt noticed, we have had a wholescale redesign of the Atholl website. This was undertaken by our webmaster Neil Gardner with the help from members of the Atholl committee. New features include a Forum for those interested in Atholl matters to meet and discuss; Regional Hub pages dedicated to the activities and Lodges spread around the world; and an increased History section. Enjoy! |
Regional Hubs It is with great pride that we have created dedicated pages for each of the Atholl regions. As these groups expand their activities and connections the web pages will grow and our aim is for the regional committees to use the hub pages as a way to connect not just within their own groups, but to the wider Atholl world. |

History, History, History! Atholl is all about history, and with thanks to our resident historian Ray Sheppard, the new website is able to present much more of the fascinating background to the Antients. We will be continuing to add to these resources, so do keep coming back. And if you have anything to add for the benefit of your fellow Brethren, do please get in touch. |
Dermott 2006 It was a big year, 2006, and the committee would like to thank everyone who got involved with the Dermott celebrations. With visits, events and talks all across the UK, it was a busy time but certainly worthwhile. Thanks must also go to everyone who made us so welcome at their Lodges and events. Pleas visit the Dermott 2006 pages for more on this auspicious year. |

Antient Writings As ever, the latest, and past, issues of our newsletter Antient Writings is available online. Do please feel free to download and share the newsletter with any Brethren you feel may find it of interest. We would also encourage all Atholl Lodge Secretaries to make coppies to share with their Brethren. If YOU have something you would like to share with the rest of the membership, do please get in touch. |
Looking To The Future As 2008 continues, there is much for us at Atholl to get our teeth into. With future visits planned in the UK and to some of our international colleagues, we are also continuing to develop the Regional Hubs, the online resources and continuing to build the membership. We would like to thank you all for your continuing support for the Association of Atholl Lodges. |
